—sight, hearing, touch, taste, and smell—
while immersing yourself in Japanese culture, etiquette, and beauty.

A bowl of matcha, carefully prepared with the host’s thoughtfulness, offers a profound glimpse into the depth of Japanese tradition.

A unique experience that will stay in your heart and memory
It's a tea ceremony experience.

FEATURES

FEATURE 01

We warmly welcome each group with great care, ensuring that every guest, regardless of background, can comfortably enjoy the tea ceremony. We are happy to accommodate your needs, whether it be providing chairs and tables, preparing sweets that consider allergies or dietary restrictions, or making arrangements for wheelchair accessibility. Please feel free to let us know your preferences.

FEATURE 02

Our tea ceremony program is carefully designed and supervised by a nationally certified interpreter-guide. With a deep understanding of the perspectives of international guests, we introduce the philosophy of the tea ceremony and Japanese culture in a clear and engaging manner.

FEATURE 03

The interior design of Chasanraku was inspired by Kyoto's temples and shrines.
It was made by a master palace carpenter.
In the simple beauty of a design that has been stripped of all unnecessary elements,
The craftsmanship of the artisans is evident.
Relax in the warmth of wood and silence.
Enjoy a sophisticated moment.

FEATURE 04

Chasanraku is a Japanese tea house nestled along the path to the World Heritage site, Tenryu-ji Temple, in the heart of Arashiyama. Despite being just a six-minute walk from JR Saga-Arashiyama Station, stepping through our noren curtain transports you to a serene and peaceful space, far removed from the bustling atmosphere outside.

FEATURE 05

We use only premium matcha in our tea ceremonies, including tea leaves cultivated in award-winning plantations and organic matcha that allows you to savor the tea’s natural sweetness. Both varieties are smooth and refined, with less bitterness—perfect even for first-time matcha drinkers.

Tea Ceremony + Matcha-Making Experience (60 minutes)

After an introduction to the tea ceremony and matcha, you will experience an authentic tea ceremony. You will observe the host’s tea preparation and enjoy seasonal fresh sweets and matcha. The meaning and etiquette behind the tea ceremony will be explained in an easy-to-understand way. After the tea ceremony, you will prepare matcha yourself. We will teach you simple techniques to make delicious matcha at home.
