High-quality organic matcha
We have carefully selected matcha cultivated locally in Kyoto using traditional organic farming methods.
This matcha has less bitterness and refreshing aftertaste.
Easy to drink for first-timers and it satisfies even gourmets.
A refined space
The authentic tatami tearoom was made using the traditional 4.5 mat design Kyoto style Japanese carpentry.

First of all, our Chasanraku staff will introduce the history of tea ceremony and maiko culture.
Maiko will perform tea ceremony.
Please enjoy this special moment observing her elegant performance and drinking the tea she made in front of you.
You will have a rare opportunity to have a conversation with maiko.
Our staff will help interpret the conversation.
Maiko's main role in the tatami room is, as the name suggests, "dance".
Please take a look at the beautiful dance that is being refined through daily practice.
As a special memory of your trip to Kyoto, you can take group or individual photos with maiko

We have a space that can accommodate up to 20 guests at a time for tea ceremony experience.
If your group has 6 to 12 guests, we offer tea ceremony in a large tatami room.
If your group has 13 to 20 guests, we will have tea ceremonies in two rooms - one in the tatami room and another in a room with tables and chairs (table style tea ceremony).
In this program, first you will see the demonstration of tea ceremony, then enjoy making matcha on your own.

FAQ
Do you accept credit cards?Yes, we accept most major credit cards – VISA, MASTER, JCB, AMEX, DINERS and Discover.
Do you have chairs in the tearoom?Basically we enjoy tea ceremony sitting directly on the tatami floor.
But for those who find it difficult to sit on the floor, we can prepare stools in the room. If necessary, please let us know in advance.
Can I purchase matcha and tea utensils?Yes. Matcha tea, tea bowls and more utensils are available in our shop.
Do you have a dress code?Nothing in particular, but please refrain from wearing strong perfume to enjoy the delicate aroma of the tea.
May I take photos or videos during the session?Please refrain from taking videos during the tea ceremony experience.
It is ok to take photos but to enjoy the quiet atmosphere of the ceremony, we would
appreciate it if you do not focus too much on taking photos.
You can take videos during the matcha making experience.
Do I need to make a reservation?Yes, all the programs above require reservations.

Can a tour guide or an interpreter attend a session with his/her guests?Yes, tour guide or an interpreter can sit with their guests in the tearoom (complimentary)
Please refrain from attending the session when there is no room for an extra person.
